About the Study
The REALIZE Study is being conducted to test the effectiveness of an investigational drug that is designed to decrease the number of seizures experienced by those who suffer from epilepsy with focal onset seizures, and who have found little or no success with other seizure-control treatments.
In this study, 2 out of every 3 participants will receive the study drug while 1 of 3 will receive placebo. Neither the participants, nor the study doctors will know who is getting which treatment. Researchers will be tallying the number of seizures experienced by participants during the study compared to the number of seizures experienced before the study.
Participants will be enrolled in the study for a maximum of 25 weeks which will include at least 7 visits to their chosen study location where screening, lab tests, a physical exam, and other assessments will take place. In addition, participants in this study may be eligible to enroll in another long-term safety study in which all participants will receive the study drug.
All examinations, evaluations, and treatments associated with the study are provided at no cost. Compensation may be available for time and travel.
To be eligible for this study, you must:
- Be 18 to 75 years old
- Be diagnosed with epilepsy with focal onset seizures for at least 2 years
- Have tried at least 2 other approved AEDs that have not worked to control seizures
- Have had an average of 4 or more focal onset seizures per month for at least 3 months
